Vintage Lawn Jart Restoration

A longtime customer brought in a vintage set of lawn jarts that had seen decades of backyard use. As with many legacy products, replacement parts no longer exist, so they turned to WinDesign LLC for a custom engineering solution that would keep the original set in play.

The Problem

One of the original blue fins had cracked completely through as the aged plastic became brittle. At the same time, the steel dart bodies were heavily worn, dull, and rusted from years of outdoor storage. The owner wanted to preserve the look and feel of the originals while making them safe and usable again.

The Approach

We reverse-engineered the original fins, modeled updated components in CAD, and 3D-printed new fin assemblies in durable material with improved impact resistance. Red and blue fins were produced to keep the classic color layout, while the metal dart shafts were cleaned, de-rusted, and reconditioned for a smooth, safe finish.

To support long-term use, we also printed and supplied extra spare fins at no additional cost, so the owner can easily swap in replacements if any future damage occurs.

The Result

The final set of four lawn jarts looks period-correct but performs like new. With crisp red and blue fins, refreshed metal points, and a full set of spares, the owner has a vintage game that is ready for many more seasons of backyard use.
